The Levenhuk New Skyline PLUS 130/650 SQ2 is a compact Newtonian reflector with a 130mm aperture and a 650mm focal length, making it the perfect choice for astronomers who are interested in deep space. Even from a city balcony, the telescope shows Jupiter’s cloud belts and the dance of its Galilean moons, Saturn’s rings with the Cassini Division on clear nights, and the phases of Venus. Light pollution mainly affects faint deep-sky objects — for those, head out to remote places far from city lights, where you will see galaxies, globular clusters, and nebulae unfold in their full beauty.
Deep space in the palm of your hand
The telescope’s optical power, together with the included eyepieces, is enough for very impressive observations. The Andromeda Galaxy reveals its bright core, an extended oval halo, and its two satellite galaxies — M32 and M110. Under dark skies, the dark dust lane along its disk becomes visible. The Orion Nebula reveals a wing-like shape in many shades of gray. Inside it, you will spot the Trapezium — a cluster of four young stars. The globular cluster M13 in Hercules resolves into thousands of stars, resembling cosmic fireworks. Those who are not afraid to challenge their skills can follow bright comets. Most of them will appear as glowing patches with a hint of a tail.
The Moon is a perfect target that never disappoints. You will see craters just 3 to 5 km across. There are many of them around the large crater Tycho and in the bays of the Sea of Tranquility. You will also see mountains, rilles, and other fascinating details.
Full kit for a quick start
The main advantage of the Levenhuk New Skyline PLUS 130/650 SQ2 is its kit. The box contains everything you need to start observing the same evening. You get two SUPER eyepieces (10mm and 25mm), a red dot finder, a sturdy steel tripod, a counterweight, a mount, and the optical tube.
The manually controlled SQ2 equatorial mount is a tool that will make your hobby much easier. Simply perform the initial setup by pointing the axis at the North Star, turn the slow-motion controls to understand how they work, and you are ready to start observing. The mount compensates for the Earth’s daily rotation. This means that the object you carefully aimed at won’t drift out of frame. You can easily track its movement without losing sight of it.
Precision optics for great views
The Levenhuk New Skyline PLUS 130/650 SQ2 features a parabolic primary mirror, which properly collects and focuses light, delivering a clear and sharp image across the entire field of view. All of the optical elements are fully multi-coated, providing 92% to 95% light transmission, which means faint objects appear brighter and with higher contrast.
