Ermenrich Ping SM40 Stud Detector

Ermenrich Ping SM40 is a multifunctional hidden element detector that is designed for providing a long service life during construction renovation and installation work. The durable body which is made of impact- and wear-resistant ABS plastic has three scanning modes (studs metals and live wires). The device automatically selects the optimal detection mode according to the strongest signal quickly adapting to different tasks.

Detection specifications

The device effectively locates wooden and metal elements at a depth of up to 38mm detects ferrous metals at a depth of up to 100mm non-ferrous metals at a depth of up to 80mm and live electrical wires hidden at a depth of up to 51mm. This level of information prior to starting work enables the precise mapping of utility lines and structural elements thereby preventing damage during drilling and avoiding costly rework. Automatic operating mode selection eliminates the need for manual control.

When scanning for studs the center of the detected profile is instantly displayed on the screen allowing for accurate marking on the first attempt. The detector distinguishes between ferrous and non-ferrous metals helping the user identify the type of obstacles and select the optimal mounting method. Safety is ensured by the AC Mode: The device instantly displays a warning on the screen upon detecting live electrical wires. The same warning is displayed in any structure search mode if a power cable is near the target.

Display and controls

Diagnostic information is displayed on the LCD screen in real time. Automatic calibration starts each time the instrument is used. It instantly adapts the sensitivity to the material and eliminates the need for manual adjustments which guarantees consistent accuracy throughout the entire shift.
